Whenever there is a conversation about women’s health, the term hormones is sure to come up. When men hear the phrase, women’s hormones, they likely think of PMS and periods. The question is; what do you think of when you see or hear that phrase? Hormones are one of many components that allow the body to function properly. They communicate when things are going well, and let you know when the proverbial you know what has hit the fan inside our bodies. While that last statement is true for both men and women, hormones can play an even more impactful role in how female bodies function.
Hormones are produced by our endocrine system which includes the pancreas, thyroid, ovaries and adrenals. There are a number of ways your endocrine system can come under attack, causing imbalances in your hormone levels or function. I’m a solutions oriented girl so when I hear, imbalance, I immediately think there’s an issue and it needs to be resolved.
“The Women in Balance Institute explains that hormonal fluctuations can occur naturally during puberty, menopause, and perimenopause, but they can also be caused by toxins or an unbalanced lifestyle. Common symptoms of hormonal imbalance include menstrual irregularity, weight gain, mood swings, vaginal atrophy, and hair loss.”
So, how do you know if your hormones are out of whack and whether you need something to help? First let's talk about what to look for.
Fatigue, anxiety, sudden weight gain or difficulty losing weight, insomnia, skin or hair changes, PMS, and low sex drive are all things that point to a possible hormonal imbalance. All of these issues do not have to occur simultaneously, or at all. But, if you are experiencing one or more of these imbalances, we should be able to identify the culprit. Insomnia is an easily identified condition.
If you are having any of the above issues and you are beginning to suspect your hormones are betraying you, it is important that you contact your doctor and have a comprehensive evaluation of your hormone levels. While it is good to have solid answers as to why there’s a problem with our bodies, we have options that can help us fix these problems.
Studies have shown that CBD has successfully helped to regulate the secretion of cortisol, which is the stress activating hormone. If you can regulate and reduce the amount of stress hormone released in your body, you can reduce the negative impact of cortisol on your body. We also know that other components of hemp oil (which Sugar and Kush CBD products are derived from) contain compounds such as omega fatty acids which are also proven to regulate hormones.
It is important to realize that CBD oil and edibles are not cure all magic elixirs. CBD products should be used as a part of a healthy lifestyle that promotes health and wellness.
